# How players join a game

> Scan the QR code on the host’s screen, or go to quizzy.earth and type the 8-digit game code. No app or account needed.

## 1. Scan the QR code

Point your phone’s camera at the QR code on the host’s screen and open the link. The game code is filled in for you.

## 2. Or type the code

Go to [quizzy.earth](https://quizzy.earth/), tap **Join a game**, and type the 8 digits from the host’s screen into **Game Code**.

## 3. Pick a name

Type a name in **Your Name**, or tap the dice for a fun one. Then choose an avatar and a color.

## 4. Join the game

Tick the box to agree to the terms, then tap **Join Game**. Your phone waits for the host to start.

> **Note:** If the host turned on **Approve players to join**, you wait until the host lets you in.

> **Game Full** (Host Pro or Event Pass): The game hit the host’s player limit: 10 players on the free plan, 50 on Host Pro. An Event Pass removes the limit. Once the host raises it, tap **Try again**.

## Questions

### Can I join after the game has started?

Yes, unless it’s a **Knockout** game. Then you can watch but not play.
