Is there a Quizzy app for TV?

Yes — Quizzy TV is a free companion app for Apple TV, Fire TV, Android TV and Google TV. It is on the App Store for Apple TV, on Google Play for Android TV and Google TV (package com.rahuld.quizzytv), and on the Amazon Appstore for Fire TV. It shows the quiz on your television while players answer on their phones.

Yes. The app is free, has no ads and no in-app purchases, and needs no account. It doesn't change what your Quizzy plan includes — it's a second screen for the same game.

How do I connect my phone to the TV app?

Open Quizzy TV on the television and it displays a six-letter pairing code. Start a game at quizzy.earth, open the TV connection control on the host screen, and enter those six letters. The TV then follows the game.

Do players need to install anything?

No. Only the television needs the app. Every player — and the host — joins in a normal phone browser with the 8-digit game code or a QR scan, with no account and no download.

Does it work on Apple TV?

Yes. Quizzy TV is on the App Store for Apple TV, alongside the Google Play version for Android TV and Google TV and the Amazon Appstore version for Fire TV. It is the same app on all of them, paired the same way.

Does it work on Amazon Fire TV?

Yes. Quizzy TV is on the Amazon Appstore for Fire TV, Fire TV Stick and Fire TV Edition televisions. Install it from the Appstore on the device, or from the Amazon listing on your phone, and pair it with the six-letter code like any other TV.

Do I need the TV app to use Quizzy?

No. Quizzy runs entirely in a browser and always has. The TV app is optional — it exists so the shared screen can be a television instead of the host's laptop.

Can the host play too?

Yes, and that's largely the point. Once the TV shows the question and the answers, the host isn't tied to a screen that reveals them, so they can join from their own phone like everybody else.

Does Knockout Mode work on the TV?

Yes. Every Quizzy mode works with the TV app, including Knockout — the live standings rail showing who's still in is one of the things that reads best at TV size.

What are the pairing codes made of?

Six letters, A to Z, with no digits — so if a character looks like a zero it's the letter O, and a one is the letter I. That's deliberate, so a code read aloud across a room can't be misheard as a number.

Without a TV, somebody has to hold the host device — and that device shows the correct answer. Quizzy TV moves the shared view onto the television, so the host can sit down, play along on their phone, and stop guarding a screen.

Everyone reads the same question

The question and its options render at TV size, with the countdown running where the whole room can see it. Phones become what they're good at: a private answer pad.

Open the app and read the six-letter code
Quizzy TV shows a pairing code on screen — six letters, no digits. It's only used to link the TV to your host session.
Enter that code on your phone
Start a game at quizzy.earth as usual, open the TV connection control in the host screen, and type the six letters. The TV picks up the game immediately.
Share the join code and play
Players scan the QR or type the 8-digit game code on their own phones. From then on the TV carries the question, timer and leaderboard while every answer arrives from a phone.

Getting the most from it

Notes from real rooms

The TV and your phone don't need to share a Wi-Fi network. Pairing goes through Quizzy's servers, so the TV just needs to be online — a phone on mobile data pairs fine.
The host can now play. Once the TV owns the shared view, there's no reason for the person running the quiz to sit out.
Knockout Mode reads especially well on a TV: the standings rail is legible from the sofa, so the room can watch itself thin out.
Pick a theme before you start. Quizzy's themes apply to the TV view too, which matters more at 55 inches than on a phone.
No TV? Casting a browser tab or plugging in HDMI still works. The app is nicer because it's built for a remote and a ten-foot viewing distance, but it isn't required.
