Classroom Mode · Beta
Quiz the whole class, no student phones
Each student holds up a printed card, turned so their answer is at the top. You sweep your phone across the room and it reads every card. The projector shows the question, then the answer and an explanation.
Free, with no sign-up and no student accounts. Up to 60 students a class. Classroom Mode is in beta, so some things may not work as expected yet.
What you get
Built for a room with no devices
No sign-up, for you or your students
Open Classroom Mode and run a lesson without an account. Students never need one: each has a printed card with a number and their name on the back. Sign in only if you want to save up to 6 classes and reuse their rosters and cards.
Pictures, and explanations with video
Add a picture to any question, from Unsplash or your own upload, and it shows on the projector beside the question. After you reveal the answer, an explanation can fill the screen with a few lines, another picture or a short YouTube clip while your phone shows the text for you to read aloud.
Private by design
Card reading happens on your phone; no camera frame is uploaded. Student names show on your phone, never on the projector, so the class sees how the room answered, not who got it wrong. No ads, and no student data is sold.
Every student’s answers, emailed to you
After the lesson, email yourself a CSV with one row per student: their group, card number, score and answer to every question. Absent students and questions you counted by eye are marked.
How a lesson runs
Projector, phone, cards
Open Classroom Mode on the projector computer
Go to quizzy.earth/study/classroom and choose Display. Add your students by typing them in or uploading a CSV, Excel or text list from your register. Then pick a saved quiz, or write or import new questions.
Print one card per student
Pick a card size and print double-sided at 100%. Each card is printed from your class list, and each student keeps the same card every lesson.
Pair your phone as the camera
Scan the QR code on the projector with your phone, or open the same page, choose Camera and type the six letters on screen. From then on your phone runs the lesson: reveal answers, show explanations, move on.
Ask, scan, reveal
Students turn their card so their answer is at the top. Sweep your phone slowly across the room; every card in view is read at once, and the list under the camera shows who is still to scan. Tap Done, and the projector shows the answer.
Running a good one
What makes a card lesson go smoothly
- Cards work with single-answer multiple-choice questions of up to 4 options. Any others in the quiz are skipped, and the screen tells you how many.
- Print on matte paper or card. Glossy lamination reflects classroom lights and makes cards slower to read.
- Ask students to hold the card still with their fingers on the edge, not over the pattern.
- Sweep slowly, and do a second pass for the back row; the phone keeps reading until you tap Done.
- If a card won’t read, or a student turned it late, tap their name on your phone and record their answer by eye.
- Save the class once you’ve added the roster, so next lesson everyone keeps the same card.
