Play a knockout quiz
In the lobby, tap Mode and pick Knockout. Everyone starts with lives, a wrong answer or a timeout costs one, and the last player standing wins.
Updated October 15th, 2026
Knockout needs at least 7 questions and a timer. It works on every plan, including free.
Choose Knockout
On your host screen at quizzy.earth/host, tap Mode in the panel above Start game, then Knockout. If something rules it out, the card lists what to fix.
Set the lives
With the game modes closed, tap Settings. Under Knockout lives, use − and + to pick from 1 to 10, or keep the number Quizzy suggests.
Start the game
When everyone’s in, tap Start game. The player list locks, so latecomers can only watch.
During the game
Your host screen shows who’s still in and how many lives each player has. Players see their own lives.
If everyone is out before the last question, Quizzy says “Everyone’s out”. Tap Show results to end the game.
Who wins
The podium ranks by how far players got, not by points. Players still standing come first. After that, it’s most questions lasted, then most right, then fastest overall.
Why can’t I choose Knockout?
Tap Knockout to see why on the card. It needs 7 or more questions and a timer, and isn’t available in survey mode or when players can add questions.
Does a partly right answer cost a life?
Yes. On a multi-answer question, only a perfect answer keeps your life.
What if an answer in my quiz was wrong?
When the answer shows, tap Fix answer key and mark the right one. Anyone who lost a life to the wrong key gets it back, and anyone knocked out is back in.
Does Knockout work on a shared quiz link?
No. A shared link has no host, so it plays as Classic.
